Hello Future, Goodbye Past...

Is it goodbye? Does it have to be goodbye? I know that moving on to another thing i.e. university or college would mean leaving your high school and friends of 5 years (or more)... But then again, it signifies the beginning of what would probably be the journey to what you really want to do in life...

So, the great thing about the FUTURE is that you'll be taking the first step in the direction of your dreams but that would also mean walking away from your past...

Does there have to be a goodbye? It's hard to grasp the fact at first but when reality hits you so fast and hard that you can barely hold on, you stop thinking about everything else but the fact that you need to keep holding on... Only after when you have a little time to think about the past and reflect, do you come to feel a little regret...

Questions that you were so sure you could answer before suddenly become exceptionally hard and you keep telling yourself that you made the right choice but you just can't shake off that feeling that you made a mistake...

The simple explanation for that is that you don't really want to let go... I mean honestly, who would want to let go off the past... No one... It's not wrong to let it go but most people wouldn't... Myself included... Whenever I see pictures of my friends whom I used to be close to but have now drifted apart from, I can't help but wish that I followed in their direction and pursued the same thing that they did... But then I realized that if I were to do that, I may come to regret it in the future... So, yes... As we move forward in pursuit of our dreams, we would probably make friends along the way... A few who would stay with you and many who would just come and go... Those who actually stay are those worth keeping... They're the ones who have been there when you needed them the most and they'll probably keep being there for you no matter what... And the friends you make along the way, well, they'll be around too.... But there are just somethings that you would only share with your closest friends...

Synopsis for Spy Myung Wol- Episode 3

EPISODE 3:

This episode begins by a short review of what had occurred in Episode 2 to show how we got there: Myung-wol is given three months to marry Kang-woo and another North Korean spy, Ok-soon has been put in charge of her 'lady training'. The thing is she’s so bad at using her feminine wiles that Ok-soon decides the best strategy is to go in with a direct assault: a declaration of love.

Myung-wol studies a variety of Hollywood romance movies and their K-drama counterparts, taking in Im Soo-jung’s anguished love declaration from MISA (I’m Sorry, I Love You).

Okay, so back to this episode. Hee-bok is seen walking into a building disguised as a repairman. He uses an escalator to get to the floor Kang-woo's on. Then, he plants a camera for spy surveillance in a flower pot on that very floor. Before sending Myung-wol in, Ok-soon gives her the advice that the key to Operation Seduce Kang-woo is “a quick progression and skinship.”

Myung-wol wears a wire (hearing device) and waits in place for Kang-woo. As soon as he walks out from his dressing room, she reaches out and grabs his wrist. He turns around and she repeats the words Ok-soon feeds her through her hearing device. She starts off by saying “I don’t expect anything from you — just let me be with you,” and pauses as Ok-soon tells her to. Meanwhile, Hee-bok, who is in the same room as Ok-soon, scoffs at her and says that her dialogue is too old-school — men don’t want a clingy declaration — and it doesn’t appear to be working on Kang-woo. Myung-wol hears the two spies bickering with one another over the hearing piece and pauses to wait for instructions from Ok-soon. It seemed clear to the two spies that Kang-woo was unaffected by Myung-wol's confession and thus, asks her retreat. However, she did not want to give up and decides to take a plunge and goes off script.

Myung-wol: I love you.

Kang-woo: You?? Me?? Love?

Before he could say anything else, he sees In-ah at the end of the corridor watching them with her arms crossed. He grabs Myung-wol and kisses her right before In-ah's eyes, all the while, staring at her. Both the spies gasps as they watch Kang-woo kissing Myung-wol, shocked at his action.

When he releases her, he finds her staring at him in surprise. However, the shock wears off almost immediately and she closes her hands around his neck and starts to strangle him. He asks her, “What, isn’t this what you wanted?”as he gasps for air. Ok-soon asks her to release him and to retreat rather than attempt explanation, so, Myung-wol releases her grip on his neck and just runs away.

Meanwhile, In-ah thinks that he's trying to make her jealous and tells Kang-woo to cut today’s shoot short because she is in no mood to film. He tells her to be a professional and not to let her true feelings get in the way of her acting or just give up and go home. He walks away leaving In-ah in his midst, filled with rage. She takes it out on her phone and throws it on the ground.

Ryu picks up the phone In-ah throws and hands it back to her. She recognizes him from Singapore and mentions it to him. He merely says they can attribute this meeting to “strange coincidence,” and leaves.

Kang-woo can’t shake Myung-wol’s declaration because he can’t figure her out and that intrigues him. He thinks back to all their encounters i.e the explosion on the set.

In the following days, he sees Myung-wol everywhere — working at the cafe, posing as a stylist at the station — and naturally shakes it off, thinking he’s seeing things when in actual fact, Ok-soon had Myung-wol dress up as random people and to appear in various places in front of Kang-woo to have him think that he keeps seeing her (to make him think that he had indeed have some feelings for her.)

Ok-soon tells her that the plan is to make him doubt his own eyes because his interest will be stirred once he starts wondering why all the women around him suddenly resemble her. It's like they were trying to mess with him psychologically.

The kiss — and this mission — gets Myung-wol all confused, too, and she tells the stone-faced Ryu that she’d always known who her enemy was — till now. Ryu tells her to think simply of her orders and never forget them. Spoken like a true soldier automaton.

In-ah’s grandfather, hotelier Chairman Joo, background-checks the helpful stranger he’d met in Singapore and finds that Choi Ryu has quite the resumé with creds from Geneva University and such. Obviously his identity had been padded but seeing as Chairman Joo did not suspect that, he is reassured that Ryu is no danger to him.

Kang-woo meets with an elderly man in a teashop, a longtime acquaintance who is familiar with his quest for the lost ancient books. The man knows what he had been looking for in the past decade and advises him to give up the search now. Kang-woo says he has to find it, even though the only hard clue he has to go by is the name: Goblin.

The ajusshi passes along a contact but adds the caution that what he’s heard of this man’s legendary ability to find anybody is merely rumor. Which turns out to be Hee-bok’s investigative agency. (It's beginning to seem like such a small world.)

Ryu is brought in by Chairman Joo, who asks if he knows about the four ancient volumes known as the 'Tetra Codex' and what they mean. (As the story goes, one went missing before the four were even completed, so they’ve never occupied the same space together. Each volume is needed to unlock the other coded books, so one must possess all four to make meaning of the books.)

Chariman Joo explains that there aren’t many people able to tell apart the real artifacts from the fake implying that Ryu is one of them and asks Ryu to work for him. Ryu answers that he’s never seen the real one but he’s seen plenty of fakes to be able to spot one. Thus, accepting Chairman Joo's offer.

Kang-woo seeks out the agency recommended by his aquittance and asks Hee-bok to find him the person named Goblin. When Kang-woo visits Hee-bok the next time, Hee-bok gives him a really vague sketch of a man wearing sunglasses (who honestly looked a little like Kang-woo). When Kang-woo looked at the sketch in surprise, Hee-bok explained that there are many possible ways he could look because there could be many variety of eyes behind those sunglasses i.e narrow eyes, big eyes. Hee-bok's apparent incompetency makes Kang-woo a little impatient but he still gives Hee-bok some extra money to continue on the investigation when Hee-bok asks for it.

Here's where they put their plan into play. They start out by having Hee-bok call Kang-woo to tell him that he had a lead on the person named Goblin. Hee-bok supplies Kang-woo with an address in the mountains of Gangwon-do and when Kang-woo gets there, he finds the house empty. He settles down for a long wait, tired and thirsty, until finally someone arrives, calling for “Grandpa.”

Kang-woo starts at the sight of Myung-wol, who explains demurely that she’s here to drop off some potatoes for Grandma. Heeding Ok-soon’s words not to make the first move this time, she pretends she’s about to leave, making him call out to stop her. She looks back at him and he beckons for her to wait with him. He asks her what she was holding and she opened up the pot she had to show him the boiled potatoes inside.

Hearing his stomach grumble, she offers him some potatoes but he declines haughtily. After a while, she tells him that she'll leave the potatoes with him and leaves. When she goes, he steals glances at the pot ever so often. He’s just about to take one, pride be damned, when he hears eerie voices emanating from the house and jumps back when a hand reaches up from under the house to grab his potato, the one he dropped in shocked when he heard the eerie sounds.

Turns out these are three neighborhood kids out searching for snakes (a prospect that makes Kang-woo jump and look around wildly), and he actually bristles when they don’t recognize him. (Kang-woo, miffed: “Don’t you have a TV at home?” Kid: “Why would you care if we have a TV, ajusshi?” Kang-woo: “I guess not.”)

Meanwhile, Myung-wol overhears Kang-woo's obvious fear of snakes and it gives her an idea and she goes off into the woods looking for some — after scoffing, “What kind of man is scared of a snake?” (In fact, she’s gone on training missions where they’d been her source of food.)

Kang-woo finally helps himself to a potato (grumbling all the while, “This tastes horrible. Really horrible. Why am I eating this?”), but his attention fixates on the snake that slithers into the yard. He orders the kids to go get it (“Keep it away from me!”) and Myung-wol makes her reappearance. He’s so preoccupied with the snake that he only half-heeds their conversation, inching closer to her all the while.

Myung-wol picks it up with her bare hand and dangles it in his face, wondering what’s so scary about snakes. He shudders and tells her to get it away, so she tosses it over the roof (where Hee-bok gathers it up for future use). Myung-wol assures him that the snake has probably gone off and told all his snakey friends not to come ’round but Kang-woo is still worried, “What if one of them doesn’t listen?”

Just then, another one shows up. Leaping away in fear, Kang-woo lands right in a pile of cow dung. Ha!

Off to the stream it is, to wash his hand. Once there, Myung-wol wades in and enjoys the water, while the Old Spies observe. Ok-soon’s plan: There’s nothing quite as appealing as a woman soaked with water and this time they’ll make Kang-woo rescue Myung-wol, thereby making them seem like each other’s lifesavers. Little do they know that it looks like Kang-woo’s already halfway in love (or at least attraction) with Myung-wol, stealing glances at her ever so often, against his better judgment.

Plan initiated: Myung-wol fakes a leg cramp and goes splashing into the water, crying out for help. Kang-woo dives in after her…only to realize that somehow, the snake that the kids caught has slithered free and has become entangled with his hand.

His (apparently debilitating) fear of snakes makes him oblivious to all else and now it’s Kang-woo who flails in the water. Myung-wol is forced to be the savior once again and pulls him to safety.

He wakes up in the village hospital, where his agent, President Kyung, finds him. She’s in damage control mode because the internet has exploded with news of the set accident and rumors that Kang-woo kicked his savior girl to the curb without showing her any gratitude.

President Kyung finds it mighty curious that Myung-wol continues to bump into Kang-woo, although it’s a fortuitous coincidence this time since she was looking for her anyway. She wants Myung-wol to make a statement explaining that Kang-woo paid for her hospital bills and gave her a sizable reward and hands over an envelope of money to make that statement true.

The Spy Squad decides it’s time to change up their strategy and Ok-soon proposes that Myung-wol ask to be assigned as Kang-woo’s personal bodyguard. Whether he’ll accept that request is another matter.

Hee-bok’s employee Dae-kang bursts into the agency all torn up at being left out of the loop and being essentially fired. Hee-bok hilariously talks about his wife and daughter like they’re really his true family, saying that the Missus didn’t want to make a big fuss over the wedding. He gives Dae-kang a tearful hug, sorry to lose him as a partner who was in a way like a son to him.

Now for the introduction of yet another entity: The NSA, the South Korean agency safeguarding national security. In a briefing, they discuss Chairman Joo and his recent trips in search of certain national treasures. But according to their intel, while in Singapore, he also made contact with the North.

The meeting is presided over by Agent Yoo Jung-shik, who is told (with some anxiousness) that this report was prepared by Agent Yoo Da-hae.

Sure enough, agents Yoo and Yoo battle it out over a session of kendo (or geom-do), where we are tipped off to some clues about this contentious father-daughter relationship. Dad worries excessively for her safety and keeps her buried in paperwork, which Da-hae resents. She wins this round and earns the right to be included in this case against his better judgement.

Ryu’s new position takes him to the Joo Mansion, where he runs into In-ah. Who, naturally, presumes he must be stalking her. Her grandfather overhears her and tells In-ah that Ryu is his new employee.

Chairman Joo presents Ryu with photos of the ancient book and Ryu answers that he can’t judge its authenticity: “Although I might, if I could see the real thing in person.” However, instead of showing Ryu the book immediately, Chairman Joo told Ryu that he had to gain his confidence first.

Ryu finds Myung-wol brooding again and she confesses that she thinks she’s the wrong person for this job. She’s so unclear on how to succeed in this mission that she’s afraid she’ll fail her country.

Ryu asks why she applied for his special ops squad and she answers that she wanted to die for her country meaningfully, as her father had done. His squad is a place she could entrust her life, because, “I have no family. So, I want to enter in that one.” She promises to return to that family.

Hee-bok is totally enjoying his role as husband way too much, to Ok-soon’s irritation. Dae-kang walks in with new resolve, to their surprise, and declares that he can’t give up on his love over something so trifling as a salary. Initiate hilarious misunderstanding: Hee-bok: “You…loved me?” Ok-soon: Suspicious side-eye. Dae-kang: “No, not that!”

Dae-kang sidles up to Myung-wol outside, where her cat-like reflexes kick in; she grabs his hand and twists it before seeing that it’s harmless Dae-kang. He smiles up at the pretty noona and earnestly expresses his alarm over the mosquitoes that threaten her, “Since they’re bastards that attack you to steal your precious blood!”

Grasping her hands in his, he declares, “I knew at first sight that you were my fate!”

The news hits the media of Kang-woo’s superwoman savior and the girl formerly known as the high school student is explained in the reports as Kang-woo’s bodyguard.

With that, Myung-wol is installed as the bodyguard; President Kyung was forced to accept that condition, since it was the only way Myung-wol would participate, thereby, stopping the rumors that Kang-woo was being ungrateful to his saviour.

President Kyung reminds her of the rules and Myung-wol recites them: she is not to speak of her work to the public, she is not to tarnish Kang-woo’s image, and she is not to cause any unsavory incidents to blow up into a scandal. Furthermore, President Kyung has just fired Kang-woo’s manager for being lazy, so, she asks Myung-wol to do basic manager duties, like running errands. Which would keep her glued to his side, day and night.

Kang-woo is frustrated with her request (and I can see why... Imagine having to look at someone who you have mixed feelings about everyday). He finds her constant hovering unsettling but she reminds him that she has orders not to let him out of her sight.

She does, perhaps, take her job a tad too seriously, practically terrorizing the dry cleaning deliveryman in her search for threats. A rogue staple merits a vicious patdown of the garments.

The next disturbance: a crowd of young men, demonstrating against Kang-woo outside his house. The hilarious part? Their tone is all serious as if it were a political-protest but their grievance is that Kang-woo despoiled the reputation of their favorite female star. (So, they were there to avenge her... Go, fanboys... xD)

They demand that Kang-woo restore Hayuri’s angelic image, ignoring Myung-wol’s orders to be quiet. She slowly approaches them and asks for the leader getting a reply from a boy who she could only presumed to be the one behind all this shenanigan.

Initially, the boys come on as brave and not knowing any better, willing to fight if it would result in regaining their idol's dignity. However, it is obvious that they are a little scared when she casually flicks her wrist and challenges them to go ahead and take her on.They take her up on her offer.

The result? A line of duck-walks around the yard with Myung-wol leading the recitation: “I will not interfere with other people’s business.” When they were done and she told them all to return home, they all look at her in admiration and asks her how someone as pretty as she could be such a tough cookie as well. She just smiles and advices them to go home.

She returns home where Kang-woo tells her to leave him alone. She promises not to bother him and stays by his side explaining that she was instructed to keep an eye on him at all times. While standing guard, she recalls Ok-soon’s advice that she’s to act the part of a woman “crazy in love.”

Taking a page from lovesick Dae-kang’s book, she approaches to touch Kang-woo’s cheek, explaining that a mosquito was about to bite him. There’s something about Kang-woo’s own swift reflexes — much like hers, though he’s less, uh, violent — that has me wondering what his true deal is… I’m not convinced he’s just an ordinary Hallyu star… (Well, as ordinary as a Hallyu star gets.)

Myung-wol starts to repeat Dae-kang’s words about how the mosquitoes were going after his precious blood, only Kang-woo’s now batting at the air and misses her comment.

Myung-wol cringes before repeating Dae-kang’s corny words about the bloodsuckers and mumbles in her embarrassment, “Kang-woo-sshi… blood… guys…” He totally kills the moment, though, by grilling her, military-style: “Blood? What did you say? What about mosquitoes?” All she can say is that she hates them and he gets up to leave in exasperation.

With her moment slipping away, Myung-wol goes off-script and bursts out, “I don’t care if this is a crazy love. I’ll stay by your side and protect you—”

But looking around, he’s gone. She’s disappointed, until he reappears to ask, “Do you know why I’m letting you stick around? Because you’re someone who risked your life for me. I feel like I ought to repay the one who saved my life.”

She’s touched and smiles with a few tears in her eyes. Until he adds, “I’ll make sure that you tire of that crazy love of yours, wait and see.”

Meanwhile, In-ah hears about the new wave of gossip spreading about Kang-woo’s hot bodyguard, replete with speculation of there being more to their relationship. So, she puts on an indifferent expression and arrives on set to find Myung-wol standing guard.

Myung-wol blocks In-ah from approaching Kang-woo, saying he’s to be left alone. In-ah pulls the “Do you know who I am?” card, saying she’s somebody who isn’t to be blocked and that she's an exception to the rule. She goes on by questioning Myung-wol about whether Kang-woo's previous manager told her anything about that. When Myung-wol says no, In-ah asks her to go check with him and tries once again to approach Kang-woo.

Myung-wol still refuses to let her through much to In-ah’s ire. She responds the only way she knew how. She raised her hand to Myung-wol only to get her arm twisted behind her by Myung-wol who manages to stop her in time. She raises her voice a little and says that Myung-wol is hurting her.

Kang-woo gets up to approach the two ladies and his intervention mollifies In-ah. He tells Myung-wol to let go, which gratifies In-ah to have him come to her aid.

Or so she thinks — because she makes a second attempt at a slap, only to be stopped by Kang-woo this time.

Eyes widen all around and Kang-woo glares at In-ah telling her, “Don’t mess with her.”

Synopsis for Spy Myung Wol- Episode 2

EPISODE 2:

Myung-wol starts to stirs due to the commotion around her… She opens her eyes and senses a presence near her. She lifts the corner of her blanket to find Kang-woo under the covers.

Kang-woo covers her mouth before she could scream and she calms down once she realizes who he was. Once the coast is clear, he gets up from his hiding place and thanks her for saving his life earlier on. However, he continues on to say, “If you thought that I’d be so grateful for you saving my life that I’d answer your every wish… dream on.”

He tells her that he doesn’t like being beholden to people in that way and tells her that he’s paying for all her hospital bills and making sure that she has the best herbal medicine, so that she’ll leave the hospital in better shape than she's ever been. In other words, he is trying to explain to her that he is no longer indebted to her because he is already repaying her via hospital bills, etc.

He adds, “I’ll remember your face in my mind, and I’ll be grateful until I die. Don’t expect any more than that. That’s the best I can do.”

After Kang-woo leaves, Myung-wol is left alone in the room silently cursing him for being arrogant. She slowly rises from the bed as to not cause anymore injury to her shoulder. Just as she began to take a few steps towards the door, a sound behind her stops her in her path. She turns around and is shocked to see a middle-aged man outside her window.

After receiving word via the late night news on the radio about a North Korean spy named Han Myung-wol infiltrating South Korea, Hee-bok manages to track her down to a nearby hospital. He tries to gain access to her without being detected. Hence, explaining why he resorted to suspending himself from the roof of the hospital via the aid of a window cleaner's 'swing'.

When he realizes that she sees him, he just shushes her and continues to struggle with his glass cutter. When he finally cuts a circular shape in the glass, just barely enough for him to fit through, he mumbles to himself about being too old to still be doing this sort of thing, while squeezing through it. She watches him warily until he makes it inside and then greets her by name followed by the word “comrade.” (What? There's another North Korean agent in the South? Why? Doesn't this make you wonder what the North are up to?)

He tells her that he decoded a message from the North stating that she has gone rogue and is going after Kang-woo for reasons unknown to her superiors. He continues by asking her if she wanted him to deliver a report to the North explaining her actions. If not, he warns, death awaits. Thinking on her feet, she tells him that as a member of the Hallyu Crackdown squad, she has come to realize that the minds of youths everywhere are being poisoned due to the spread of the Hallyu Wave. So, she has decided to take matters into her own hands and is in the South to eliminate the source of it all… Kang-woo.

As soon as she says that, she realizes that she had gotten herself into more of a bind than before. She immediately regrets speaking before thinking and wonders what she’s going to do now. Meanwhile, Hee-bok is still trying to recover from the shock of discovering the reason behind Myung-wol's mission. (Or so he thought...) After that, he leaves through the front door after telling her that he would deliver her report.

She attempts to escape out the window through the hole that Hee-bok had made earlier. However, the guards whom Kang-woo’s agency hired to safeguard her hears some suspicious sounds coming from her room and decides to investigate. She is midway out of the hole in the window when the guards step into the room and stop her. Her unusual method of escaping made the agents wonder if she suffers from some sort of psychological damage and Kang-woo thinks it’d be weird if there wasn’t anything wrong with her after the trauma she had from saving him.

Hee-bok returns and sends Myung-wol's report disguised as a normal request to the radio station to be broadcasted… except the DJ makes a last-minute change to his monologue and changes a word as the DJ saw it as being inappropriate to air. Thus, decoded, “Eliminate” becomes “Photograph,”. So, Myung-wol’s superiors get the message that she has infiltrated the set to… take pictures of Kang-woo. On top of the fact that Myung-wol's picture and articles about her saving Kang-woo appearing all over the internet causes her superiors to be suspicious.

They decided to investigate her recent history (aka mission) to find out where it all went wrong and then discover that she went to Singapore on a secret mission. The only clue they could obtain from her trip to Singapore was that she attended a Kang-woo concert while there.

So, now there is “evidence” to prove her betrayal and she is thus ordered to be eliminated… by the general who sent her to Singapore in the first place. Ryu is the one ordered to kill her and he runs after the general to call him out on his hypocrisy.

He’s the one who sent them to Singapore to accompany his Hallyu-crazed daughter but the general tells him that if Myung-wol dies, the secret dies with her. So, in order to cover up his mistake, Ryu is ordered to kill Myung-wol.

Hee-bok shows up at the hospital in order to warn Myung-wol and he brings his partner Dae-kang in to distract her guards by posing as a crazy person. Dae-kang does a convincing job by putting a flower in his head and prancing around but Hee-bok orders him to drool for good measures. Dae-kang walks up to the guards and snatches away one of the guards' belongings causing them to pursuit him.

With Dae-kang distracting the guards, Hee-bok signals to Myung-wol and leads her to the fire escape stairway. Once there, he informs her about the mixed-up message. He tells her that they’re sure to send someone to eliminate her. He hands her Kang-woo’s current location and runs off. It was then that the guards find her, so, in order to keep the paper Hee-bok gave her a secret, she puts it in her mouth for safekeeping.

Meanwhile Kang-woo meets with In-ah’s grandfather, Chairman Joo (Lee Deok-hwa) and it comes out that he has been Kang-woo’s financial backer for five years. (Oh! That was surprising..).

He asks Kang-woo about the book In-ah said he purchased at auction in Singapore and Kang-woo dismisses it as nothing of value. (Hmm.... What's with people and the book again??)

Myung-wol makes her escape from the hospital and watches one of Kang-woo’s movies in a dvd-bang as she re-bandages herself, like she’s studying her target, straight out of a serial killer movie. While doing that, she discovers a tracker in her old bandages, which she suspects had been placed by Hee-bok when he hugged her in the hospital. (So, is he on her side or not?)

She decides that all she has to do is steal that book from Kang-woo and return home. She breaks into his house while he’s out and searches high and low but there was no sign of the ancient book.

The problem is, he comes home when she is searching his bedroom. So, she's trapped. She sneaks out to his balcony, only to find that he does that too. Once outside, he hears a sound coming from the edge of the balcony. (No! It can't be...)

And turns around to discover a pair of hands hanging on for dear life on the edge of the building. (Oh man! I can't believe she did that...)He peers over and there’s Myung-wol, dangling from his balcony. Suddenly, one of her hands loses grip on the ledge and she is left hanging from one hand- the one with the shoulder that she had just injuired. She clings on desperately to the side until the pain gets to her. He catches her just before she falls and pulls her up after she faints (The pain must have caused her to pass out...).

She wakes up in his bed and quickly recalls what happened. Oh man, now she really seems like a crazy fan girl—there’s no backing out of it now. No arguing or backpedaling is going to make him believe otherwise.

He launches straight into how he knows that she loves him and all that but does she really think he’d choose a common high school student over the other women in world who wants him too? But then he does pause… “Are you perhaps a chaebol?” (Seriously? Sometimes, he can be so obnoxious...)

Then, he rambles on and asks her if she by any chance, comes from a wealthy family. He says he doubts it but just asks her anyway. (So, money might change your mind, huh?) But she says no, so, he determines that since, she has no money and her face…he turns to look at her… “is not my style.” What makes her think that he would choose her? Meanwhile, she wonders to herself if she ought to kill him (*sigh.. He should really, really not be that vain).

Then, he tells her to stop worrying her parents and to go home. She was still in a daze and sitting on his bed when he walked in and asked her if he should call her parents. (And seeing as she doesn't have any...) She needed a cover, so she decides to go with: CRAZY (Yes, seriously!).

(This part is really hilarious). She begins with a bout of fake amnesia which doesn't really work because he didn't seem to believe her. As he begins to walk away, she grips her head and flungs herself on the bed, moaning about her head hurting. When he approaches her, she sits up suddenly causing him to move a little further from her on the bed. She looks at him still holding her head and says, 'Doctor, my head hurts'. He turns her face to his and she messes up her hair a little more than it already was with her hands then looks at him and says, 'You're not a doctor'. After that, she flungs herself back on the bed and continues to pretend that her head actually hurt, making him worry. Then, he wonders if she really is crazy. He wonders if she jumped to save him because she’s crazy, or if saving him made her crazy. There’s just enough doubt to make him feel responsible.

He calls up his manager, whom he given the night off to ask him the whereabouts of the painkillers. But while he’s got his back turned, she disappears.

In Pyongyang, the general ignores Ryu’s concerns over executing a comrade to cover up his own mistake and he threatens Ryu with the same fate if he doesn’t carry out his orders. That is, until Hee-bok succeeds in getting the correct message out over the airwaves, that her intention is to kill Kang-woo.

Back to the war room, where the other generals asks him for the real story about Myung-wol’s rogue mission, worrying that this could rattle the entire Hallyu Crackdown Division if he lost control of his own assets, he changes his story on the spot, pretending that he assigned her the mission of infiltrating the South to bring Hallyu star, Kang-woo over to the North voluntarily.

They ask what the message was about killing him and the general clarifies that it was a mistake and that it’s been determined that an actor of Kang-woo’s caliber is sorely lacking in the North, so, he devised a plan to turn him (This may seem strange seeing as the generals are all talking about getting Kang-woo to the North in a war room). The other generals still doubted him, so he explained Myung-wol’s mission to them. He started with Phase one and said that it was for Myung-wol to get close to Kang-woo. Hence, seeing as she rescued him, has already been completed. The other generals were still unconvince and asks him to continue his explanation. They ask him what phase two is. He starts in on the doublespeak about adding Ryu to the plan to accomplish the objective. They ask what the objective is. He darts back and forth… Then, gets an idea. “It’s top secret.” he says.

Kang-woo wonders about why the strange worrisome crazy girl keeps disappearing on him.

At the same time, Hee-bok tracks his tracker…only it’s not so much attached to Myung-wol anymore. He really doesn’t want to report that he’s lost her, scared that he’ll be next on the chopping block.

Meanwhile Ryu flies to Singapore first, to witness the sale of one of the ancient books. Chairman Joo is interested in buying a book from the black market and had brought along a briefcase full of cash in exchange for it. However, he lacked the skills to tell apart the fake and the genuine one. So, he could only judge it from its outer appearance which appeared authentic to him.

Ryu steps out from the seller’s side and Chairman Joo recognizes him as the helpful man who stopped him from purchasing a so-called antique vase in Singapore some time ago. Chairman Joo asks him about what he thought about the book, as Ryu picks it up and carefully examines it. He sets it down slowly after examining it and tells Chairman Joo that it was a fake and that he had been tricked. Then, in a blink of an eye, the seller’s henchmen raise their guns at Chairman Joo and Ryu. Ryu swiftly disarms one of his assailant and holds the gun to the seller’s head. By doing so, he not only left Chairman Joo impressed but manages to convince the Chairman that he was willing to give up his life for him, thereby, making him a worthy ally.

Myung-wol walks through the city and finds that Kang-woo’s face follows her wherever she goes. His face is plastered on the bus stop, the bus, two highrises above her and even the nightclub business card on the ground at her feet. (Apparently, South Korea is only obsessed with him…)

Hee-bok comes back to his office to find Ryu waiting for him. He tries to turn him away thinking he’s a regular patron but Ryu utters the secret password. Hee-bok stands at attention immediately.

Kang-woo has his manager call the police to report the missing high school student, and when asked how long she’s been missing, he answers “Nine hours, eighteen minutes, twenty-two seconds.” (Looks like he cares after all…. Aww…)

They find out that nine hours does not qualify to be in the ‘missing’ category. Hence, he is unable to launch a police search. So, he orders his manager to search all the hospitals in Seoul to find her and to report to him if anyone fitting her description showed up. His manager smiles widely to witness Kang-woo’s first instance of caring about another human being. Kang-woo insists that it’s for the greater social good since she’s a crazy girl but his manager tells him that even caring for the greater good is uncharacteristic of him. Kang-woo doesn’t answer, instead he changes the topic by staring at his manager and asking him what he was waiting for.

Kang-woo’s manager manages to track her down. She was about to walk into a fan-signing by Kang-woo when she realizes that she is being followed. She readies a stick to stab the person only to have it knocked away as he whirls her around. She immediately realizes that it is Kang-woo and before she could react he began to shoot questions at her. First, he asks her what she expected to do with the stick, followed by asking her why she disappeared without telling him. When he notices her curious look, he insists that he wasn’t looking for her because he was worried in any way, oh no, but because it’s his duty to society at large.

She just stares at him, thinking in her head as he rambles on, 'Why does he talk so much? Why wouldn't he stop? He tells her that from now on, she is to report to him about all things.

After Kang-woo leaves, Hee-bok finds her there and tells her that they have a visitor from far away and she freezes at the sight of Ryu. She bows her head as he chastises her for disobeying orders and she offers up her life in penance.

However, he states that there is no need for that because (he relays her new orders:) she is to get close to Kang-woo, marry him and have him voluntarily return to North Korea with her.

Her reaction is perfect— she opens up her eyes widely, shock written all over her face at her orders. She begs him to let her kill Kang-woo instead.

She tries to talk Ryu out of it but he is as rigid as he is humorless. Hence, she has to carry out her orders and marry him. She sighs to herself, “How am I supposed to seduce him?” (It's funny how she is really skilled in the field but knows nothing whatsoever about relationships...)

Introducing another spy from the North, Ok-soon (Yoo Jee-in), who goes from bar owner to chic society lady the instant she hears the coded radio announcement. Hee-bok shows up in the park for a meet, as Ryu and Myung-wol look on.

She’s a legendary agent, who will be Myung-wol’s new handler and her purpose is to train her in everything that she knows. She’ll also be part of Myung-wol’s new cover… and she is to marry Hee-bok so they can pose as her parents.

Hee-bok swoons thinking about the marital bliss ahead (Awww) but she balks at crossing the line with him. He pretends to be equally offended.

Ok-soon worries that Myung-wol lacks the proper feminine wiles for a seduction mission and Myung-wol answers truthfully that she’s never had any experience with men and doesn’t have the confidence to carry out this sort of mission. But Ryu asks if she really wants to be in the special forces like her father and that changes her attitude.

Ok-soon begins her training, starting with makeup and facial expressions. She tells her to look like an angel or in other words angelic (She really doesn't pull it off well... xD)

She is hilariously bad and it’s equally amusing to watch Ok-soon being a drill sergeant of girliness as it is to watch Myung-wol be so bad at it. She takes to studying it like a school subject, taking notes as she goes along trying to figure things out.

When Ok-soon gets her to watch a medley of kissing scenes from Hollywood movies, Myung-wol plops herself in front of the tv with a notebook and pen writing down everything she sees. Ok-soon walks in on Myung-wol doing that and tells her to try and feel her way through it instead of taking notes. So, Myung-wol tries to follow Ok-soon's instruction and watches the scenes carefully and in detailed but fails to see what Ok-soon was referring to.

Later, she reports to Ryu that Myung-wol’s success on this mission seems highly unlikely, since “she doesn’t know what it means for her heart to skip a beat. How is someone like that supposed to fall in love?”

The scene moves on to one with Kang-woo sitting a chair in a dressing room as he goes over the script. His phone starts to ring and he checks it to find that In-ah was calling him. He sets the phone down on the table instead of answering her call. In-ah storms in with her phone in hand. She notices that Kang-woo was not picking up her call even though it was just within reach. She yells at the remaining staff in the room to get out and approaches him. She questions him about not answering her call but her question was only repaid by silence.

To fill the silence, she goes on by talking about how they're meant to be and stuff. Suddenly, she suggests that they get married justifying her request by saying that, 'Isn't it better to be married to an heiress than to date one?' Her question causes him to rise from his seat. He turns to her and asks, 'Are you a gangster like your grandfather? Do you just order people to marry you?'

She is persistent and continues by offering him the chance to marry her for her money, knowing that it’s the only reason he’d be interested. He dismisses her and is about to walk away when she backhugs him and says that he should hold onto her while he can saying that, “You’ll never find anyone who’s as crazy about you as I am.”

Upon hearing that statement, he remembers Myung-wol and smirks while replying, “Is that so?” and walks away.

Someone grabs his arm as he walks out and he turns around to see Myung-wol standing there. She pleads with him that she wants nothing more than to be by his side and tells him that she missed him like crazy.

He laughs incredulously and then she blurts, “I love you!” He thinks that’s just par for the course and is about to chastise her again, until he spots In-ah staring at them from down the hall…

He smells an opportunity and has no qualms about using one crazy girl to get rid of another and asks her, “You're crazy for me that you'll do anything for me, right?” And with that, he pulls her in for a kiss before she gets a chance to reply, all the while giving In-ah the evil eye.

Synopsis for Spy Myung Wol- Episode 1

Spy Myung Wol- may seem just like any other typical Korean drama involving a love triangle (between 2 guys and a naive girl) written into a spy-like plot but truth be told, it's not too bad. Sure the story line is somewhat predictable but there are some scenes that gives this drama a certain twist when one least expects it. It has some action scenes every now and then. On top of that, there are even hilarious scenes that just makes you laugh nonstop. Which in turn gives this drama a great balance of both comedy and action, thereby, making it entertaining. Besides that, the script is written in such a way that it does not really require a lot of thinking and piecing together to understand, hence, enabling the audience to sit back and relax while watching it. It starts out pretty slowly however it starts to picks up speed along the way, but that's only because they (the writers) wanted us (the audience) to get acquitted to the characters of the drama to enable us to understand the story as it progresses.

EPISODE 1:

The drama unfolds right at the beginning with both the main characters: Kang-woo (Eric Mun of Shinhwa) and Han Myung-Wol (Han Ye Seul) engaged in stand-offs and/or battles.

Kang-woo is on a rooftop having a standoff with a police officer (cameo by Kim Sung-oh), which is quickly revealed to be a glorious, tragic ending scene in one of his latest action movies. High-ranking military officials watch the movie from their Pyongyang, North Korea, headquarters, and the superior officer marvels at Kang-woo's star power, wondering why they don’t have an actor of that magnitude on their side.

Myung-wol’s scenario, on the other hand, is one with higher-stakes. She is seen dodging bullets and taking down her pursuers with an explosive. She disarms a soldier in time to see the object she was searching for, a bomb. She is drenched in sweat as she is seen nervously trying to disarm the bomb.

Something flies into her field of vision and Myung-wol is briefly distracted — it’s a butterfly — the brief distraction was long enough for the bomb to finish its countdown. Fortunately, it’s not a real bomb — this was a test — and seeing as she failed to disarm the bomb in time, she failed.

It has always been Myung-wol’s dream to work for the special forces unit, but due to today’s lapse, she failed the final round. She tells the special forces agent, CHOI RYU (Lee Jin-wook), that she will re-apply in three months, ignoring his suggestion that she stick to what she’s good at.

Ryu refers to the work she currently does, as she’s currently a member of the Hallyu crackdown squad. Her unit deals with illegal distribution and smuggling of media items such as South Korean dramas into the country and she gets back to work on one such case.

Acting on intel, her team locates one such source and arranges a hand-off. Myung-wol tracks him down and arrests him as he’s screening Kang-woo’s newest drama. (The girls salivate over his charisma and good looks and even the men admit he’s got appeal.)

General Kim — who happens to be father to a Kang-woo superfan — discusses a mission with Ryu, which he declares must be carried out with utmost secrecy. For it, he selects agent Han Myung-wol, who has stellar records and conveniently, no family or close friends.

Ryu warns, however, that despite her outstanding profile on paper, she has a fatal flaw: She acts before she thinks.

Nevertheless, Ryu accompanies Myung-wol to Singapore, where they act as guards to General Kim’s daughter, Eun-joo. They keep a close eye on the teenager while accompanying her to Kang-woo’s concert.

There is a part of this mission that isn’t revealed to Myung-wol, who’s told merely to stick to her direct orders. Ryu keeps a tight lid on the details, which suggests that there is a bigger goal than Myung-wol is aware of.

As for Kang-woo, it appears he’s quite the perfectionist. He puts on a flashy show, then, nitpicks every little flaw in the planning despite the successful performance. He’s got an ego, sure, but it’s far from Dokko Jin proportions (the latter of whom practically needed a separate planet to deal with the weight of his self-importance). Interesting trait, given that his image in front of the cameras is that of an easy-going, smiling top star.

Eun-joo tries to sneak out of their room — the same hotel where Kang-woo is staying — to find her star, only to be stopped by Myung-wol, who reminds her that she isn’t to show her face in public. Eun-joo pouts that all she wants is a single autograph, since she’d worked so hard to come in the first place (she’d gone on a hunger strike, which weakened Daddy General’s opposition).

Eun-joo tells Myung-wol to get the autograph instead, taunting her that surely an elite agent such as she would be able to manage it. So, Myung-wol tries to slip by security by pretending to be a reporter, to accost Kang-woo by the pool, only to be turned away. She turns to leave but Eun-joo’s words goad her on and she goes back for round two, literally throwing herself at the security guards, only to be turned away again.

Rationalizing that it’ll just take ten minutes of crazy to wrap up this task, Myung-wol dons a wig and follows him through the hotel. When she catches up to him, she thrusts a pen and pad at him and demands an autograph. She might want to work on her powers of persuasion.

No surprise that Kang-woo declines, even when she gets pushier and keeps indicating that he should sign. She refrains from speaking in Korean, probably to keep her own cover, so most of this is communicated via gestures and somewhat broken English. She continues to insists that he signed her notepad even after he explained to her in English that he did not give out signatures on the streets. Finally, he gives in and scrawls something on the notepad while making sure to keep the back of the notepad facing her at all times. He flips the notebook closed with the pen to mark the exact page and hands it back to her before hurrying away from her. She watches as he walks away and suddenly remembered her purpose and flips the notebook to the page only to find a taunting smiley face. Myung-wol grows more incensed at his ungracious attitude and decides to pursue him until she succeeds in obtaining his signature.

That takes them through the streets of Singapore as Myung-wol stalks him through the marketplace, muttering all the while about the arrogant bastard who can’t be bothered to fulfill her one wish.

Determined to succeed, she doesn’t see Ryu out in the courtyard. He meets with a fellow agent and confirms their mission rendezvous point the next day.

He spots Myung-wol moving through the crowd and was about to follow her when a snatch theft nearby caught his attention. The victim is JOO IN-AH, movie actress and hotel heiress who’s here for two reasons: (1) To “coincidentally” run into Kang-woo — her co-star and, if she had it her way, future boyfriend (2) Oh all right, she only cares about Reason #1, but her hotelier grandpa tries to get her to show interest in their hotel (as she is bound to inherit it one day) while she’s here trying to snag her man.

Ryu sees the thief snatching In-ah's handbag and running off in the opposite direction. He reacts immediately, jumping in to efficiently dispatch the twosome. After that, he returns her the purse and In-ah puffs up when she realized that he’s Korean. She was expecting him to recognize her any second now but he doesn’t. Instead he turns away with cool disinterest to her annoyance and dismay.

Kang-woo is wise to his stalker and remains elusive as he keeps a step ahead of Myung-wol. He finally shows himself to her, assuming she’s gone through all this trouble to drool over her hero and warns her to back off or be forever banned from his concerts. He also threaten to call the police. Myung-wol finally speaks, and in Korean, no less, advising him to sign the damn autograph in 5 seconds or have it taken by force.

Kang-woo concedes, agreeing to give her the signature but looks down at her loosen shoelace and gets an idea. He acts naturally as if he was about to tie them for her calling it an act of fanservice. After all, she’s the crazed fan who went to such lengths to see him — and what exactly has her so enraptured? he wonders. “My handsome face? My voice? My manners?”

He stands up and starts to walk away and she tries to follow suit. It’s only now that Myung-wol notices that he’s tied her shoelaces to each other, and as she fumbles with the knot, he swoops in and kisses her on the cheek.

That startles her, and he explains that the kiss is worth much more than an autograph — so she can take this memory, cherish it, and quit following him.

Myung-wol happens to see Kang-woo as he’s leaving the hotel that night, on his way to a formal event. She follows him there, then gains entrée by pretending to be a valet worker and offering her valet services to one of the partygoer…and availing the woman of her gown and mask.

At the masked party, she spots Kang-woo and follows him to the auction, where he is (unhappily) joined by In-ah, who pesters him to leave this boring event so they can go party. Once again, In-ah has surprised him by showing up unannounced, even as he tells her he’s not interested. But spoiled princesses, heiress daughters, and movie starlets are nothing if not used to getting their way, and In-ah’s all three in one. She sticks around, undaunted.

Kang-woo displays a marked interest in the auction. One in particular, an ancient book up for bidding.

One thing’s for sure: It has special meaning for Ryu as well, who watches the bidding from a separate room and prepares to move out.

Just as the bidding escalates to $1.5 million, Myung-wol receives orders (via her earpiece) and hurries to leave, which attracts the attention of the room. She fumbles along and makes a bid to cover, although she’s saved from having to make good on the $1.8 million by Kang-woo’s bid of $2 million, which wins the book.

On her way out, she’s distracted by the sight of Kang-woo being given the book and pauses with the intention of trying one more time for the autograph. But before she can act, Kang-woo is set upon by masked intruders and Myung-wol acts instinctively to fight them off.

The leader entangles her with his whip and goes after the book in Kang-woo’s hand but Myung-wol — not registering that it is Ryu — throws a pen at him. It enters his hand and he takes a leave after a quick glance at the injury he sustained and at the person who had inflicted it. She then makes her own escape as the owner of the dress and mask had sought out the help of security in search of the lady who had robbed her of her belongings.

Back in Pyongyang, she’s reprimanded by Ryu for ignoring orders and put on probation. Worse yet, he bars her from applying to his special forces squad which shakes her.

A flashback reveals the source of her desire to be a part of that unit, because her doting father — now dead — had been one of their agents. With his memory weighing on her mind, Myung-wol appeals to Ryu again, asking for one more chance. It appears they’re better acquainted than they’d seemed at first glance, although they are strictly professional in all their interactions, because Ryu understands her private reason for being a special forces agent. He is, however, unmoved by her plea, being highly principled.

When he leaves the room after ignoring her plea once again, Myung-wol notices his bandaged hand and realized that it was the exact spot where she had hurt the assailants from the auction in Singapore the night before. She was uncertained as to whether it was really Ryu until she saw the pen she had used to stab her assailant yesterday stabbed in an upright position on his desk. Realizing now that Ryu’s secret mission-within-a-mission had been to steal that book from Kang-woo, Myung-wol feels the responsibility for thwarting that mission. Deciding that she’ll take care to right her own wrongs, she vows to settle this matter.

She takes a leave of absence from work and sails in to Incheon Harbor in the South to begin her own private mission.

Tracking down Kang-woo’s fairly easy — he holds a press conference to promote his upcoming drama series, Assassin, which is the same series that got those North Korean fans arrested.

Getting access is slightly trickier, but not impossible. Myung-wol manages by temporarily kidnapping a high school girl who happened to be one of Kang-woo's fan, to steal her uniform and ticket to attend the press conference.

Myung-wol bides her time through the preview screening and the shoot, with the attendees allowed to watch the open set as Kang-woo and In-ah film a chase/explosion scene.

Kang-woo’s professionalism rears its ugly head which drags down the mood of the shoot as he objects to pictures being taken during the shoot. His agency president tries to reason with him, saying that the press only wanted to release some news about the movie, however, he gave her an impossible choice when he said it's either them or me. The director abides by Kang-woo's terms and tells the press to hold the photograph session.

When the director starts shooting again, In-ah stops the shoot suddenly and said that she isn't able to get into character anymore. The crew calls for a ten-minute break and Kang-woo's manager ushers away the fans off the set asking them to give Kang-woo some privacy to rest momentarily. Myung-wol hangs back as the manager ushers everyone around her out of the set. She watches Kang-woo from a distance when her eyes widening in shock to see the dangerous conditions of the set — gas lines, pipes, sparks — are about to set it ablaze, literally.

With barely a second to spare, she throws herself at Kang-woo (rawr!) and knocks him clear of his chair- saving him from the blast. The blast causes a metal structure to fall and hit her shoulders injuring her in the process. The noise brings everyone racing to the set, but Myung-wol dashes off set before witnesses get a good look at her, leaving Kang-woo wondering about her identity.

Kang-woo asks his team to find her but she seemed to have disappeared. Kind of. As they drive away from the filming location, the driver screeches to avoid hitting someone — Myung-wol, woozy from the explosion, who collapses.

The news is abuzz with reports of the mysterious high school student who saved Kang-woo’s life, all wondering who she could be and why she disappeared.

The news even travels as far as the Pyongyang officials, who see the hazy shots of the accident site and the barely-discernible schoolgirl as she runs away. They have their suspicions that this is Myung-wol, since the facts fit, and the general orders Ryu to confirm her identity asap.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in Seoul in a run-down investigative agency, two men watch the news reports of the explosion and puzzle over the girl’s identity. Well, it’s really DAE-KANG (Lee Kyun) who’s interested, while the elder man, HEE-BOK, is less so.

Dae-kang is riveted at the idea that finding the schoolgirl heroine would net them a huge cash reward, since Kang-woo will surely shower his savior richly, right?

Hee-bok, on the other hand, dismisses him with a grunt and settles down to his nightly activity: listening to a midnight radio show. The DJ relates a story sent in by a caller about a missing grandmother, and immediately Hee-bok recognizes something odd about the message — it’s coded.

Reaching for his decoding kit, he gets to work unraveling the hidden message in the story. And when he’s done, simple words like Grandma, dementia, and dinner become Secret Agent Target Star Infiltration Report, capped off with the name Han Myung-wol. Ooh, an undercover spy?

After being picked up by Kang-woo’s entourage, Myung-wol is taken to the hospital and undergoes surgery. When she’s in recovery, Kang-woo hovers over her bed and calls for a nurse — only to find that the hallway is filled with reporters, who spot him down the corridor and hurry towards him.

Kang-woo hurries back into the room and calls his team for backup, leaving his agency president trying to block the persistent paparazzi from entering the room. They forced their way into the room anyway — but turned away in disappointment when they find it empty. The reporters then start questioning the agency president about the patient and is informed that she is actually a trainee who collapsed due to exhaustion.

It’s the commotion that stirs Myung-wol out of her sleep and as she opens her eyes, she slowly takes in her unfamiliar surroundings…registering the hospital bed…and sensing a troubling presence nearby.

Hesitantly, she lifts up the bedsheet, and finds Kang-woo looking up at her, motioning for her to remain quiet.

Myung-wol opens her eyes in alarm, just as he claps a hand over her mouth.

Wait... Who are you again???

Okay, so most people use social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter nowadays to keep in touch with their friend, make new friends etc... Well, the main reason why I have a facebook account is to keep in touch with my friends but seriously, I've noticed an increase in friends request from total strangers... Yes.. I don't know you...
I mean don't get me wrong I like meeting new people but yeah, facebook is so not the place to do that... It might that way for some people but I'm not one of them. So, the next time you're wondering, "Oh! Why isn't this person adding me?" or "Why does she keep ignoring my request?"... Just bear in mind that it's not you, it's the fact that I don't know you...
Seriously, I'm not really into adding total strangers especially not in a place where I'm certain a person can falsify information about themselves. No, no... I'm not talking about you directly if you just happen to think it's you (its not)... I'm talking about people who actually do that...
So, the next time you request to befriend someone on facebook that you don't know, just remember that if that person doesn't accept your request, it's not due to you as a person, it's the fact that we're not sure whether we can trust strangers to have good intentions...
